Ian Ashcroft 1942 - 2021

Ian Ashcroft was the original founder of Ashcroft Transmissions Limited, formerly Automatic Conversions, over 30 years ago. After completing an apprenticeship and degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ian spent 20 years in the manufacturing industry. He worked in various capacities, including maintenance and design, where he has gained a wealth of experience. Automatic Conversions was born as a quest for a reliable transmission after successfully destroying endless Series II & III gearboxes with a V8 engine.

Other developments followed in an attempt to further improve reliability of the drive train. He had considerable technical knowledge, which he has demonstrated in the design of many of our products.

Ian retired around 2011 but continued to offer technical advice and remained interested in the success of the Company and any new products that were being launched until his untimely death in 2021..
